We are nature, nature is us

Kuba composed the score and sound design for this non-commercial World Wildlife Fund campaign, a stop-motion animation hand-illustrated frame by frame in colored pencil by artist Natasza Cetner, produced by BluBlu Studios. Inspired by the poem “We Are Nature,” the film reflects on humanity’s connection to the natural world. To match the animation’s organic, hand-made character, Kuba built the soundtrack from field recordings — forest ambience, wind, leaves, branches, and percussive hits on tree trunks — layered with cello, ukulele and light percussion for a warm, intimate sound.

I am Celine Dion

Kuba composed the opening title score for I Am Celine Dion. The excerpt scores the film’s disorienting opening sequence — a dynamic run of shots from a car following Celine’s attack — building from long string textures into a melodic theme carried by solo cello, then bass clarinet, over an interlocking rhythmic pattern of piano, xylophone, harp and percussion. The title music resolves into a warm, positive chord as the story arrives at the house in Las Vegas, where a lighter string theme signals home.

Voyagers

Kuba composed the music for Voyagers, a playful animated short about a tiger who escapes its hunter and ends up on a space station with an astronaut and his fish. To keep the score coherent with the image, each character was scored with a signature instrument — oriental flute for the hunter, congas for the tiger, trumpet for the astronaut. The piece premiered as a live cine-concert at Cinéma Trianon in Sceaux.

Wing it !

This short animation tells the adventures of a cat and a dog. Kids just love this little funny animation movie.

In this type of animation, I find it necessary to emphasize key elements in the narrative and to exaggerate the tempo and emotions by music. Such exaggeration of musical elements is what characterizes this composition. The composition received positive feedback and was shortlisted as

Musical composition inspired by minimalism pulsatif style and the works of Terry Riley and Steve Reich.
